Carrington Park Golf Course
|
Carrington Park, or as it is better known these days — Rosebud Park Golf Course was originally opened for play on nine holes in May, 1956. The second nine was opened in December, 1960. For many years it was known as Carrington Park and many older members today still refer to it by this name. Although it is generally regarded as an excellent Public course, it is very under-rated with its fairways and greens the equal of many private courses.
The course has spectacular views over Port Phillip Bay from several holes, particularly from the first and 13th. Many of the fairways slope right to left . . . often said to be towards the sea! The course is a 5,389 metre par 70, one for men and a 4852 metres par 71 challenge for the ladies. The course is extremely popular with ‘holiday golfers’, but also maintains a solid general membership. Many are members also of the “Carrington Club” — a Social Club which is located directly across the road from the golf club’s first tee. |
